
SHINE is Taylor's University innovative second transcript award that complements a student's academic achievements. The fourth component of the SHINE award is 'Global Engagement' and to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations (UN) SHINE is organising a UN Day at Taylor's University. The event will be held on Saturday,听October 24th, 2015 from听9am 鈥 5pm.听The celebration will be open with the first in the series of听SHINE Distinguished Speakers, and the Keynote address 听will be on 鈥淢alaysia in a Global Community鈥 delivered by听YAM Tunku Zain Al-鈥楢bidin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, 听the Prince of Negeri Sembilan and Founding President of the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS). Following on from the Keynote there will be a听SHINE Global Perspectives Seminar, which will be a Forum to discuss and debate the current condition of human rights in Malaysia. It will feature听YBhg Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir(writer, activist, and member of the board for Sisters in Islam.听Named 鈥淯N Person of the Year (2010)鈥 by the United Nations in Malaysia),听Mr. Stevens Chan Kum Fai听(who is the听founder of Malaysia Glaucoma Society, Save Ones Sight Missions Bhd., and Dialogue in the Dark Malaysia) and听Dr. Victor P.
